It Was Supposed to Be Forever... Until It Wasn’t.
Like lots of little girls Liz and Susie both had an idea of how they wanted their grown-up lives to be…marriage, children, a safe and happy home, a beautiful connection with their ‘person’, ease and joy and general life success.
Liz met her husband in her early twenties and began to feel panicked when all her friends were getting engaged and started having kids and she wasn’t even engaged. Ignoring the little red flags in their relationship, she decided the fault lay with her - not being good enough, or thin enough, being too insecure and needy, being too loud when she got drunk - the list went on! Eventually he proposed, during an argument about getting married - oh the irony!
They soon welcomed their first child, and she believed she finally had that dream life! A move out of London and a brother for her daughter only 19 months apart followed.
But then the wheels started to fall off. Slowly but surely they grew apart, had different priorities - hers being with the kids and creating a lovely home and family life, his being money and career. Eventually, after many years of working on herself doing everything she could to change into the person who could make everything OK, a trial separation and two rounds of marriage guidance counselling, Liz could take no more. After 9 months of deep grieving for her marriage and a breakdown, she finally called time and didn’t look back until three years later when the insidious post-separation abuse began. That would still exist today if Liz hadn’t gone through her darkest days that thankfully led to her taking her power back, saying no and transitioning into the person she is today - the one she was always meant to be but was never allowed to be - by her parents, her ex but most of all herself.
For Susie, things were complicated from the start because they had both been married before but she was determined to create a healthy and happy family- and get that happy ending she’d always envisaged. But behind closed doors, things weren’t really right. Constantly feeling the pressure to centre her husband, subtle manipulation, an underlying sense that something was deeply wrong—but she kept convincing herself it wasn’t. But she wasn’t living authentically. When she finally gathered the courage to call time, she thought the hardest part was over.
She was wrong.
Instead of freedom, she faced financial betrayal, an exhausting legal battle, and relentless post-separation abuse.
Both Liz and Susie believed—like so many women do—that if they did things “the right way,” it wouldn’t get messy. They trusted. They compromised. They thought their exes would “do the right thing.”
But they didn’t.
And if you’re reading this, maybe you’re realizing this could be your story too. Maybe it already is.
The Harsh Truth? It’s Not Your Fault—But It Is Your Responsibility.
This isn’t the path you wanted. The disassembling of family life.

“I worked with Liz because I was broken from my divorce which was high conflict and I knew I had so much trauma on both the money AND relationship side. From the get go I knew Liz understood and it was truly the first time I felt genuinely heard without someone trying to escape because they felt awkward or give me useless advice with no empathy for what I've been through”
